CIT WALKS AWAY WITH TOP HONOURS IN ITS CATEGORY AT ECIC / CAPE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AWARDS FOR WESTERN CAPE EXPORTERS

CIT Intermodal (The Container Company), established in June 2007 with the express aim to provide a better all round containerisation service, walked away with top honours at the ECIC/Cape Chamber of Commerce Western Cape Exporter of the Year Competition in the “Non-Engineering / Manufacturing Company” category.

Now in its 27th year, the Cape Chamber of Commerce and Industry invited any businesses based in the Western Cape that exports products and/or services to participate.

Container Intermodal Trading CC (CIT) owner and spokesperson, Kashief Schroeder, comments: “We were happy to be nominated as a finalist. To actually win the award was such a brilliant accolade for our company. We’re delighted to be recognised and acknowledged for outstanding services. We competed against a host of different types of industries, and came out on top; it is a remarkable feather in our cap.”

Judges for the competition were looking for companies that export their products and/or services outside the RSA, are involved in product and/or service improvement, have made a positive contribution to their communities via their business endeavours, have begun to employ more people, are increasing their export turnover, are looking to increase their export base, are looking at creative and innovative ways to export into challenging markets, and have made notable achievements in the export field.

Says Janine Myburgh, President of the Cape Chamber: “The Cape Chamber of Commerce and Industry is extremely proud of the level of expertise and innovation shown by CIT and congratulates them on winning the Finex SA Award for export excellence in the Exporter of the Year Competition. The standard of entries was exceptional, and winning a prize of this nature alludes to the quality of CIT’s work – being of a high international standard.”

Schroeder says that one of CIT’s most recent notable achievements was to be awarded the Southern Africa agency contract for an international container leasing company called Blue Sky Intermodal (UK) Ltd. He adds: “Amongst so many others, we trust that key retail chains in South Africa will take note that we are the best solution for their shipping container needs – not because we’re saying so, but as the award speaks on our behalf.”

Schroeder concludes: “We’re incredibly honoured to be recognised by the ‘outside’ world for our services rendered, making sure exports are seamless. This award encourages us to aim for even higher standards than what we’ve already established, so watch this space!”
